WHAT IS THE HARBOUR OF RIO DE JANEIRO?
The Harbour of Rio De Janeiro is known as one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World. The harbor of Rio de Janeiro is in fact a bay which spans an immense 88 miles in length. ‘Rio de Janeiro’ means ‘River of January’ in Portuguese; the name given to the area by the 16th century explorers when they thought they were sailing into a wide-mouthed river, rather than Guanabara Bay. Rio de Janeiro Harbour, River of January, is considered as one of the seven wonders of the natural world. It had been knowns as one of the most beautiful natural harbours. people admired the geology so much that they said, ''God made the world in six days and on the seventh, he concentrated on Rio. The people explained that "The climate is wonderful. "The beaches are free to everyone."
Where is it located?
Rio de Janeiro Harbour is located in Brazil on the south-western shore of
Guanabara Bay. The bay is surrounded by the city of Rio, the second largest city
and former capital of Brazil, along a strip of land between the mountains and
the Atlantic Ocean. It is surrounded by mountains: Sugar Loaf Mt. (1,296 ft/395
m), Corcovado Peak (2,310 ft/704 m), and the hills of Tijuca (3,350 ft/1,021 m).
The world famous statue of Jesus (38m) stands on the top of Corcovado Peak. The
harbor was formed by the Atlantic Ocean, which wore out the soil and rocks along the coast.

What is its importance?
The Harbour is important beacuse it is the main source, of transporting goods and products from other different places. If it didn't have a port; the the ships wouldn't have anywhere to dock and if they can't dock, the ships wouldn't be able to land and deliver the goods. They are known as carriers.
How is this wonder precious/spectacular?
The Harbour is one of the 7 wonders of the world bcause it hilds many illusions. The Harbour can be viewed in so many ways, that it appears differently and can be deceptive. For example, the mountains create an entrance into the bay and can make it appear to be a lake. According to the picture shown above the statue which is specifically known as "Christ the Redeemer" makes the harbour precious and spectacular. It signifies that it keeps a watchful eye over the people of Rio De Janeiro. This shows it is precious because it signifies Gods presence. On a clear day the view from the base of the satue are fanatstic. At nightime the statue is lit up and seemingly hovers over the city as the mountain it stands on is dark. if it is cloudy the clouds light up and the effect can be quite spectacular and ethereal.
